RE: Exercise time...

I and others here have experienced the long cranking times after an idle period of a few weeks or more. I may be wrong, but I suspect that the reason is that the gas line drains back to the tank, and maybe the float bowl partially dries out. Both my RT's acted this way, and the Tiger does too, tho' less so (I think its generator is closer to the fuel tank). A lot of gas Onan's seem to have a 'prime' function so that the fuel pump can be run without the starter, but the 2.8's don't.
I agree. That's what it acts like. I don't like cranking it that long though, or that many times, so I'm gonna stick with the 2 week interval from now on. Seems to work much better.

RE: Exercise time...

Did ours last Sunday too. Let it go for 3 weeks for the first time this time. It was 14 degrees when I started it. It took 7 tries of sputtering, coughing, backfiring to finally get with it.
Ran it for 45 mins. with no problems after it finally got going with a full on space heater running the whole time.
Oh, and at the same time, we took the van on a 70 mile round trip. It's first run in 3 weeks too.
I shall not do the 3 week thing again. I'll stick to the 2 week interval. Oh, and it's got treated fuel in it from early November.

RE: Comparison of Class C Motorhomes

We own a 2007 Phoenix Cruiser, model 2350. They make longer 29 foot ones with big walk-around beds and two slide-outs, that would make a decent full-time RV for a single person. They are scaled down for easier drivability, but of coarse isn't as roomy as most other brands. The Phoenix Cruiser is a very well made RV for someone with limited finances, yet still wanting a new RV. They are well insulated, have fiberglass roofs, gel-coated fiberglass exterior walls, steel floor & aluminum wall/ceiling framing, and qulaity balance construction. If you search this forum for "Phoenix Cruiser", you can read many comments on them.
Click Here to see decent pictures of mine, which easily show the fit and finish quality.
If I were to consider a full-time RV for myself, I would look at a diesel pusher, with an entry door like a Grey Hound bus. You get an uninterrupted living area and a lot of basement storage with them. But if you travel alone and fairly light, then something scaled down like a Phoenix Cruiser is surely worth consideration. They tow a car as well as any other class-C.
I second what ron says. I've researched these, and while not owning one, I can say they look good and they check out quality wise.
Many different variations, with and without slides, and a small enough manufacturer that they can/will make changes from their "normal" floorplan installs of equiptment etc.
The Ford chassis, and now the Sprinter chassis, from them are hard to beat in the C class segment. Also very good pricing too!

RE: Class "B" shower functionality

Concentrate your search on the "larger" B's. The Pleasureway Excel, Roadtrek 210, or any of the Sprinter conversions.

RE: Comparison of Class C Motorhomes

One thing to be sure to check on during these times, is to make sure the manufacturer your buying from is still in business and relatively healthy......

RE: Tiger CX's

Just curious. Does Tiger let you supply your own truck, (naturally to their specs)?
I notice they have new owner(s), so this may be an irrelevant question right now.......

RE: B quality - which brand is consistantly the *best*?

All of the B mfg's build quality rigs. I am partial to both Pleasure-Way and Roadtrek - they both build quality rigs and they both have enclosed bathrooms in some of their models.
Ditto here.....

RE: 2009 Leisure Vans Free Flight

Hope like was mentioned earlier, that they've made the interior workmanship better than the 2 that I saw at last years' RV show here in KC.
Those 2 look like the interior had been built & assembled by a 10yr. old. Not to mention the lack of headroom.

RE: Battery life, cooking and corrosion

It sounds like your getting too much charge to the battery somehow. It's boiling off the liquid. I've added very little, one time, to my coach battery after having the unit for 22 months.
Also, it should be able to sit for a few months and not go dead. Either the battery is bad, or you've got a small load on it from somewhere in the coach all the time.

RE: Thor Four Winds Ventura

The one thing I do like about this coach is that it is converted here in America. It is nice to see that at least two of these Sprinter conversions are made in Indiana and this looks a lot better than what I have seen at Sportsmobile.Michael
Don't forget there's a Winnebago/Itasca Sprinter "B" also, converted in Iowa.

Drove it about 10 miles and ran the generator for the first time in 3 weeks. My usual winter time "exercising' ritual.

RE: Need oil change info...please

Wal Mart & Jiffy Lube are the last places I'd take an RV, or any one of my vehicles to get an oil change. ESPECIALLY JL! WM is a close second.
Go to a dealer if you don't want to or can't do it yourself......

Not sure it's an improvement. I think it looks worse than the earlier site. Also, they've got a very interesting floor plan for the Traverse! ;)

I believe that Galveston State Park is wiped out right now. Still be worth checking though. I'm sure the parks are the last thing on the list for repairs from the hurricane.

RE: B or not to B

Well, all B's I know of are 30amp, no reason for more amperage. The PleasureWay Excell and RoadTrek 210 are really nice sized B's with very usable showers.
Also there's the Dodge Sprinter based B's. They are taller and slightly longer. Get better fuel mileage, (somewhat), but with a more expensive fuel, and have nice sized showers.
Lots to look at and consider here. One thing about a B is that you can pretty much drive them anywhere you can drive a full size Chevy or Ford full size van. That's worth alot in my opinion, over an A!
